Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ProFussball processes when you use the site, why, and the choices you have. ProFussball is a free, independent fan project for predicting football matches. This page describes how the service actually works today; it is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

What data we store

Account data

When you create an account we store:

• your email address;
• a hashed version of your password (we never store your password in plain text);
• your chosen display name;
• your preferred language;
• an administrator flag (used only for the small number of operator accounts).

Sessions and technical data

When you sign in, we create a session record that may include your IP address and browser user agent, so we can keep you signed in securely. Sessions expire after 30 days. Your IP address may also be used, in the moment a page loads, to estimate your time zone so kickoff times display in your local time. This time-zone lookup uses a local MaxMind GeoLite2 database on our own server and does not send your IP address to a third party. Standard server logs may also record technical request data such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps.

Game data

We store your match predictions, the rooms you create or join, your room memberships, and the points awarded for your predictions, so we can run the prediction game and show standings.

How your data is shown to others

• Inside a private room, your display name is visible to the other members of that room.
• Your email address is never shown publicly.

Deleting your account

Signed-in users can delete their account from account settings. Deletion requires confirmation. When you delete your account, it is anonymized: your email address and display name are removed and you can no longer sign in. So that other players' room standings and history stay intact, your past predictions remain in place but are shown as “Deleted user”. You can also ask us to handle privacy, access, or deletion requests by writing to aksana.meshcharakova@gmail.com.

Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, protect against cross-site request forgery, and remember your language preference. Google Analytics is only loaded after you accept analytics in the consent banner; if you reject it, no analytics is loaded. See the Cookie Policy for the full details.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of providers to run ProFussball:

• Hetzner — hosting of the server and database (hetzner.com).
• Mailtrap — sending transactional email such as password-reset messages (mailtrap.io).
• Sentry — error monitoring in production, when enabled, which may include technical request context.
• Google Analytics — usage analytics, loaded only after you consent.
• football-data.org — the source of match fixtures and live scores. This is an outbound data fetch; we do not send your personal data to it.

Data retention

We keep account and game data for as long as your account exists. There are no fixed automatic retention periods beyond this today. When you delete your account, it is anonymized as described above.

Children

ProFussball may be used by minors. We do not knowingly collect more personal data than the account email, display name, and the game data described above. If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern, contact us at aksana.meshcharakova@gmail.com.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
